RIDDEN is a 2D side-scrolling space shooter controlled entirely by the mouse. Play as an armed maintenance drone aboard a spaceship overrun by aliens. Collect organic matter to analyse, upgrade your on-board systems, and fight through alien bosses as you strive to complete your final directives

About

This project was worked on through rapid ideation, initially with a two week sprint, then a further 4 weeks to polish. 

The idea was, what if we control everything with just the mouse? So after some ideation of Character Movement, and some diegetic UI design, we had a working prototype. 

Continuing with the minimalist design, it was crucial to alert the player where enemies were, without showing popups on the screen. As a result we turned to clever use of a modular music system, which I designed, implemented and produced. Essentially, based on the enemies in the room it would fade in and out tracks. This provided a cohesive minimalist design we were looking for, and alerted the players sufficiently.
