Makerspace Marketing Collateral
Full report available here
As an assignment for Yoobee I was tasked with creating marketing collateral for a local council project. In Auckland our libraries actively have a program running promoting the exploration of creative technology such as Game Dev, Music Production, Robotics and 3d Printers. The target demographic I chose to market to was 14+ teens to young adults. The three marketing collateral I iterated on were posters, Instagram posts and an arcade machine with a game.

The theme across all marketing collateral was reminiscent of 80s media and the surging popularity of arcade games. The technlogy theme of the Makerspace by going with a bright neon “cyber” colour palette. The color palette features green (renewal), turqoise/blue (positive emotions and increased empathy), purple (imagination), and pink (love and playfullness). These analogous colours thus create a feeling of creativity and fun in a digital environment. The use of neon colors also provides high visibility and nostalgia referencing early 80s media, when arcade machines became widely popular.

With the poster and Instagram post, I also created an arcade style game called “Library Mania”. There were a few design considerations that needed to be made before starting this project. It needs to be easy to pick up, at specific aspect ratios and fun to get interest in Makerspace.
With these design considerations, and to keep with the theme of 80’s retro games, I decided to make a chaotic library management game similar to “Overcooked”.
